Meet Our Assistant Principal

Gerardo Llamas
 
At the Huntington Park Institute of Applied Medicine, Mr. Gerardo Llamas is one of our Assistant Principals. Mr. Llamas brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education, overseeing our Special Education, Social Studies, and World Languages departments, along with spearheading our efforts in data collection and analysis, technology, and event setup.
 
Educational Journey
Mr. Llamas's educational foundation was laid at St. Turibius Elementary, followed by George Washington Carver Middle School and King/Drew Medical Magnet High School. His passion for public service and governance led him to pursue a Bachelor's in Political Science from UCLA. His commitment to education deepened, obtaining a Teaching Credential in Social Studies from Chapman University, and furthering his expertise with a Masters in Educational Administration from California State Northridge.
 
From Teacher to Leader
Gerardo Llamas's career in education is a testament to his dedication and leadership. Beginning as a teacher at South Gate High School, he quickly demonstrated his capability in various roles, including Coordinator and eventually Principal at both South Gate High and Orchard Global Studies Middle School, before joining us at the Huntington Park Institute of Applied Medicine as Assistant Principal.
 
A Philosophy Rooted in Belief
Mr. Llamas operates under a simple yet powerful belief: All students must have the preparation necessary to make the choice between college and other paths theirs to make. He sees education as a fundamental right and a means to individual and societal betterment.
 
Outside the Office
When not shaping the future of our school, Mr. Llamas enjoys staying abreast of politics, indulging in music, experimenting in the kitchen, and cherishing time with his family.

Inspired by the transformative power of public education in his own life, Mr. Llamas is committed to ensuring every student recognizes and reaches their potential. His vision is to sustain a school culture where every student's self-efficacy is nurtured and celebrated.
